Where have all the cowboys gone?

I live in the Northeast US so I guess you can argue that we never had any stinkin’ cowboys to begin with. It’s an urban legend around these parts. BUT, we do have gentlemen that are still MEN, well, at least we used to…
MEN these days come in all shapes and sizes and categories. The ones I despise most are those pretty-boy, perfectly dressed, super skinny types that push you aside to get in line first at the salon counter so they can pay for their $25 hair goop and then hop into their luxury sedans and speed away listening to a blur of electronic audio stink… Yup, THOSE DUDES…
The ones who spend a little too much time in the mirror, a little too much money on beauty treatments and a little too much energy at the gym to acheive perfect fill-in-the-blank body parts.
So where are all of the men we grew-up dreaming about?
You know the kind; the manly, menly MEN who were seemingly born to make a woman feel like a lady…
Opening doors
Carrying groceries
Listening to rock music
Asking you to help dress them when you have a fancy occasion to attend
Wearing jeans at every opportunity
Getting their hands dirty and proudly displaying the callouses
Sporting a scruffy face 2 days after a clean shave
Loving their wife and children above anything else
Sigh…
DING! DING! DING!

I do believe those urban cowboys you depicted are riding bareback up a mountain. My computer geek hubby doesn’t get dirty or have calloused hands but he does do the rest.

I am a southern girl in Louisiana… and believe it or not, we have some like that around here!! There’s just something about those country boys… and believe me when I tell you, I DEFINITELY live in the country… sometimes referred to as BFE!
