WW: Google’s Wonder Wheel
Posted by Mrs Zeee on 05/13/2009
Have you seen the latest feature offered by Google? It is called the Wonder Wheel and here’s how it works.
Go to Google and type in any search keyword.
Right above the results, there is a link for “show options.” Click it!
Now you should have an options bar on the left hand side that allows you to super-refine your search results by most recently updated, related searches, etc.. (I should mention that the time-sorted search is likely a response to Twitter’s increasing search popularity)…
Moving on, under “Standard View” choose the colorfully texted, Wonder Wheel… and…
The Google gods drop your original search keyword into a universe of related keywords/terms, nicely arranged on a wheel diagram.
Here’s what happened when I searched for “Angelina Jolie:”

Everything directly related to Angelina appears on the wheel and as you click on the related terms, your original search results become more refined on the right hand side of the screen.
Now, look what happens when I did a search for “Mrs Zeee:”

Hmmm…
Guess I have a long way to go before I can compete with Mrs Pitt! :(

That is really cool! When teaching writing, I used a similar web to brainstorm with my students.
I’ll have to search for me later.
Thanks for stopping by!

Too funny! Mine would probably look a lot like yours (although I’m not a sure that’s a bad thing)!

Wow! That’s pretty cool. I didn’t know that existed. I did a google search for “Miss Behavin” once and found out there is an erotic writer with a website, a DJ, and a few songs. Who knew?

LOL…I don’t mean to laugh but it is kind of funny. Although, really cool.

That’s hilarious. I never even heard of the Wonder Wheel. I did a couple of searches and it does come in handy. Thanks.

Oooo! Visual Thesaurus is one of my favorite toys, and this seems to be a similar concept.
More time-wasting online toys – YES!
