STS: Take my advice darling, it’s free!
Posted by Mrs Zeee on 05/15/2009
This week’s Small Talk Six topic has got me chomping at the bit t0 reiterate those obvious and often cliche pieces of advice that some people just need to RE-LEARN!
The people in this case being celebs/politicians/coworkers/friends oh, and me in many cases…
1. Cheaters never prosper
I don’t care who the heck you are…you must follow the rules like everyone else; that’s why we have them. So to all of the celebutantes that think it’s ok to close down a store at 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon because you feel like it’s “private shopping time” — NOT COOL.
2. Honesty is the best policy
Many would disagree but spilling the truth is better than letting the guilt of the lie fester in your soul for eternity, right? This one’s for those politicians caught in less than honorable affairs — come clean and salvage what’s left of your soul @$$hole.
3. There’s no such thing as a free lunch
Or a free bonus offer… or a free anything for that matter — everything comes with a price so partake wisely in life’s freebies. Loving addressed to Bernie Madoff’s investment advisers…
4. Don’t judge a book by its cover
We learn this early, we need to remind ourselves of this one OFTEN.
Here’s a reminder for Don Imus… repeat this one daily, buddy.
5. Whisper, whisper as you may and watch your friends all go away
Poisoning relationships with rumors and gossip destroys them. Keep it real and you’ll have valuable friendships as a result…Yes, I am talking to you Miss Office Gossip who won’t shut the heck up about this one’s butt or that one’s marriage issues…MYOB
6. Treat people as you want to be treated
This applies to EVERYTHING and EVERYONE (especially me). It is the most important to practice, especially while rummaging through a major clearance sale at bloomies, or when switching lanes on the highway, or … hey, cut me a little slack…I’m working on it!

There are so many things celebs need to be told. Like you won’t be famous forever and just because you’re famous doesn’t mean you can be a jerk.

I’m so with you.
I believe in Karma.
The worst part about lying could be trying to keep up with it.

Number 4 is definitely a work in progress for me. I have to remind my self of this one. Great list.

I try not to judge a book by its cover, but then it usually opens its mouth. I became seriously jaded as an insurance agent.

Great list. Lots of common sense. It’s amazing how many people don’t follow it.
