3 American Icons, Gone
Posted by Mrs Zeee on 06/25/2009
I am not one to usually get caught-up in celebrity or high profile deaths, but this week really gave pause — did we just lose 3 major American icons in one week??
Just when I processed the death of Ed McMahon, I feel like I turned around to news of Farrah Fawcett and now this…Michael Freakin’ Jackson? Jacko? Really?
Is this for real? I just can’t believe it. I loved his music and I thought he had an amazing stage presence (before he got all weird and icky). And let’s face it, he could DANCE!

So, maybe it sounds callous but I have to ask myself:
Remember all of the video images of young girls screaming and crying at Michael Jackson concerts overseas? Can you imagine their emotions now?
Is this going to be another Elvis thing where people will be in total denial, spotting him at gas stations and movie theaters for the next 30 years?
Are we going to remember the King of Pop the way we still as a country, idolize the King of Rock n Roll?
I think we might even be more inclined since Michael Jackson’s passing will be mourned around the world.
It’s a sad, sad day…

I was so shocked when my daughter called and told me he died!
It is so sad. He was so talented, but I feel he had a tortured life….

I just hate that his death is overshadowing the passing of Farrah Fawcett. Over the last three years she’d done so much to bring attention to colon/anal cancer.
Anyway, when we heard the news of MJ’s passing Hub said, “There go a lot of people’s jobs.” And he is right. Just consider all the body guards, attorneys, managers, and flacks who are now out of a job. He was an economy unto himself.

It is a very sad week in Hollywood. I think Michael Jackson’s death was such a surprise which is one of the reasons it overshadows Farrah.
I think Hollywood and Fans should celebrate their lives. They have all left a legacy behind.
Farrah was in so much physical pain but she was such an inspiration. Michael, I believe was in emotional pain. They can now both rest in peace.

I don’t think my first comment went through so I’m trying again.
It is truly a sad week for Hollywood. All three stars left behind a huge legacy and they will be missed.
