5 Lessons Learned from Noggin
Posted by Mrs Zeee on 07/02/2009
Like most parents, I find minimal use of television a very handy tool to entertain my little one.
And, like most parents, I find myself mindlessly watching said tool right along with my little one…
After countless hours of Nick & Noggin, I can honestly say that as an adult, I have retained some valuable lessons learned.
So, at least we know it’s working on some level!
Here are a few of my faves:
1) Teamwork is important – Wonder Pets
Thanks to the little critters on Wonder Pets, I am constantly humming the Teamwork song and reminding my hubby that the only way our household chores are going to get done is if he helps me… This is Serious!
2) Snack time trumps play time – the Backyardigans
Those odd little ‘yardigans are freakin’ HUNGRY! I mean right in the middle of an adventure they just drop it all on a dime once one of their little stomachs growl. So, naturally, I practice the same…
3) It’s ok to be sensitive – Franklin
It’s nice to be aware of other’s feelings, but Franklin is a little bit of a wuss. I take this one with a grain of salt.
4) Always carry a map – Dora the Explorer
Dora always consults her mapa to get where she’s gotta go. Although, it’s not practical to carry around a folded map these days, I think my mobile map apps would suffice.
and arguably the most important one of all…
5) Don’t bite your friends – Yo Gabba Gabba
The jury is out on whether these are space aliens or monsters, but those gabbas/gabbi (plural?) are right on the money: biting gets you nowhere fast. (see exhibit Mike Tyson)
